The Great Composer Quiz – August 11, 2020

This time, it’s a Quiz about lip-syncing at the piano. This Great Composer was said to have been a perfectionist. For years, radio stations were forever trying to broadcast his performances, but our Great Composer had his agent go into the broadcast booth, even at Carnegie Hall, and tell the engineer that our Great Composer would not take the stage until “you turn off your microphones.” Then the agent would give the engineer the recording our Great Composer had made of the work and instruct him to play this instead of the performance for the broadcast. The audience would hear him play live, but the audience at home would hear his recording. So who was this man who was both live and Memorex, this Great Composer?
