The Great Composer Quiz – Keeping up with the advance of technology.

Tchaikovsky, 1893. Still waiting for the phone to ring?

Time’s up, pencils down. The Great Composer who had to put down the phone when he realized he was listening to a friend who was 193 km away. The friend was the renowned violinist Adolph Brodsky (unrelated to the great Russian poet Joseph Brodsky – as best as I can determine), who, when he heard his friend Tchaikovsky’s tremulous pleading to get off the phone, said, “I have not got you by the buttonhole. You can go when you please.” In all likelihood, it was the last phone call Peter Ilyich ever took.
