The Great Composer Quiz – September 9, 2020
Time’s up, pencils down, the Great Composer whose revival came partly from the efforts of Ezra Pound, who, among other things, wrote publicly on his behalf. The answer is The Red Priest, Antonio Vivaldi.
The fact that Pound supported Vivaldi was seen as a sign of Pound’s inexperience as a music scholar, and he took quite a few barbs from musicologists. Pound also assisted the research of the musicologist Olga Rudge, his longtime companion.
